How the AI X-ray analyzer works

  1. 1

    Upload your X-ray

Drop in a panoramic, bitewing or periapical image, or a clear photo of one. It's straightened, resized and contrast-enhanced right in your browser.

  2. 2

    Confirm you're human

Tick “I'm not a robot” and start the analysis. The check keeps this free tool from being drained by bots.

  3. 3

    Read your report

In a minute or two you get numbered markers on the image, a finding-by-finding report, a health score, a PDF and a chat to ask follow-up questions.

What the AI looks for on your X-ray

Cavities (caries)

Dark areas in enamel and dentin, including between teeth where bitewings show decay the mirror can't.

Treatment & dentists →

Infection at the root tip

Periapical radiolucencies that can signal an abscess or a tooth that may need a root canal.

Treatment & dentists →

Bone loss and tartar

Lowered bone levels and calculus deposits that point to gum (periodontal) disease.

Treatment & dentists →

Fillings, crowns and root canals

Existing work, overhanging or open margins and how well previous root canals look filled.

Treatment & dentists →

Wisdom teeth and impactions

Impacted, tilted or partially erupted teeth, often seen on panoramic X-rays.

Treatment & dentists →

Implants and missing teeth

Implant position and bone around it, gaps from missing teeth and drifting neighbors.

Which dental X-rays you can upload

Panoramic (OPG)
One wide image of both jaws. Best for an overview: wisdom teeth, bone levels, implants and large lesions.
Bitewing
Upper and lower back teeth biting together. Best for cavities between teeth and early bone loss.
Periapical
One or two teeth from crown to root tip. Best for root-tip infections and root canal checks.

Tips for the clearest result

  • Ask your dental office or patient portal for the original digital file; it beats a photo every time.
  • Photographing a screen or film? Hold the phone parallel, fill the frame, and avoid glare and moiré lines.
  • Include the whole radiograph, edges and all, and don't zoom into one tooth.
  • Crop out your name, date of birth or chart number before uploading.
  • 3D cone-beam (CBCT) slices and ordinary mouth photos aren't supported.

How to read your X-ray report

Numbered markers

Each box on the image matches a numbered finding. Colors group them: red for decay or infection, amber for gum and bone, teal for fillings, crowns and root canals, violet for everything else. Tap a marker or a finding to highlight it.

Severity and confidence

Severity (low, moderate, severe) is how concerning the AI thinks a finding looks. Confidence is how sure it is that the finding is real. A severe, high-confidence item is worth a prompt visit; a low-confidence one is a question to ask.

Enhanced vs original

The analyzer evens out contrast and sharpens fine edges so roots, bone and fillings stand out. Switch to the original view any time to compare, or go full screen to inspect details.

Your X-ray stays private

  • Never stored by us. The image is analyzed in memory and discarded when your report is ready. Nothing is saved to our server or attached to your visit. The free AI model’s host may keep what it receives, so crop out names and ID details first.
  • Prepared on your device. Resizing, straightening and contrast enhancement happen in your browser before upload.
  • Hourly purge. As a safety net the server deletes any temporary upload data older than one hour.
  • Text-only chat. Follow-up questions use the written report, never the image.

Accuracy and limits

AI vision models are useful for spotting large, obvious findings, but they miss small or early problems and sometimes flag normal anatomy as a problem. An X-ray is also only part of the picture: it can't show gum pocket depths, cracks, tooth mobility or what you're feeling. Your dentist combines all of it with a clinical exam. Use this report to prepare questions, never to delay or replace care, and seek urgent help for facial swelling, fever, or trouble swallowing or breathing.

AI X-ray analyzer FAQs

Can this tool diagnose problems on my X-ray?

No. It's an AI second look that flags areas worth discussing, a screening aid, not a diagnosis. AI vision models make mistakes on radiographs, both misses and false alarms. Only a licensed dentist examining you, with their own imaging, can diagnose anything.

What happens to my X-ray image? Is it stored?

Our server never saves it. The image is resized and enhanced in your browser, sent over an encrypted connection, held in memory only while a free AI vision model (reached through OpenRouter) reads it, and discarded as soon as the report comes back. Nothing is written to disk on our server, and it automatically purges any temporary upload data within an hour as a safety net. The companies that host free AI models may keep what is sent to them and use it to improve their models, so crop out your name, date of birth or ID details before uploading. The follow-up chat only sees the text report, never the image.

Is the AI X-ray analyzer really free?

Yes, free with no sign-up. Each analysis costs us real AI credits, so every run starts with a quick “I'm not a robot” check, and there are fair-use limits per visitor and per day.

Which dental X-rays work best?

Clear panoramic (OPG), bitewing and periapical radiographs. The AI checks image quality first and tells you if a photo is too blurry, dark or cropped to read reliably, along with a tip to fix it. 3D CBCT scans and regular photos of teeth aren't supported.

How accurate is it?

It's good at pointing out obvious, large findings such as deep cavities, big fillings, root canals, implants and impacted wisdom teeth, and less reliable for small or early changes. Marker positions are approximate. Each finding shows the AI's own confidence; treat low-confidence items as questions for your dentist, not conclusions.

What does the health score mean?

It's the AI's 0 to 100 summary of how much it flagged on this one image, where 100 means nothing of concern was seen. It isn't a clinical grade and can't account for what an X-ray doesn't show, like gum pockets, tooth mobility or your symptoms.

Can I get the report in Persian (Farsi)?

Yes. Switch the tool to فارسی before starting the analysis and the whole report and chat will be in Persian.

What should I do with the results?

Treat the report as a conversation starter. Download the PDF, bring it to an exam and ask your dentist about each numbered area. If anything is marked severe, or you have pain or swelling, book promptly with a dentist near you.
