An orthodontist is a dentist who completed an additional accredited residency (usually 2, 3 years) exclusively in orthodontics. General dentists can legally provide braces and aligners, and many do simple cases well, but complex bite correction, surgical cases and growing children are generally better served by a specialist.

No, roughly one in four orthodontic patients today is an adult. Teeth move at any age as long as gums and bone are healthy; adult treatment sometimes takes modestly longer and options like ceramic brackets, lingual braces or aligners keep it discreet.

Pricing in Northridge generally tracks the citywide ranges on our Orthodontics guide. Westside offices tend to sit near the top of those ranges while offices further east and in the Valley often come in lower. Always ask for a written treatment plan with the total case price before agreeing.
